Umera Ahmad (Urdu: عمیرہ احمد), born on December 10,1976 in Sialkot,[1] Pakistan, is an Muhajir, Urdu-speaking author and screenwriter. She is best known for authoring the book Pir-e-Kamil and the TV serial Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan which won a Lux Style Award.[2]

Biography

Ahmad was born on December 10,1976 in Sialkot.[1] She began her writing career in 1998 with her initial stories published in monthly Urdu digests. She has written 16 books, ranging from complete novels to compilations of short stories.[3] Her most popular book is Pir-e-Kamil.[4]

Later she became an English language lecturer for the students of O and A levels at Army Public College,[5] Sialkot. However she left the job a few years back in order to devote her full attention to writing. Both her novels[1] and her plays[6] have been adapted for television. In 2007 Ahmad attended a discussion meeting organized by Geo TV regarding new ways of being creative in television.[7]
